The Lion’s Message In a Bottle scheme is a simple idea designed to encourage people to keep their personal and medical details on a standard form and in a common location - the Fridge. Whilst it is focused on the more vulnerable people in our community, anyone can have an accident at home, so this scheme can benefit anyone, including you.
How does the Scheme work?
Your details are stored in a plastic container, which is kept in your fridge.
Two small stickers, unique to the scheme and known to the emergency services and other caring agencies, are attached within your house, one to your fridge door and the other inside your front door.
What have I to do?
You can pick up a plastic container from your local surgery.
This contains a form, 2 square labels and a rectangular label.
Complete the form - (Medical information can be obtained from your GP).
Place the form back into the plastic container provided and close the lid. Stick the rectangular label round the container.
Store the container in your fridge. Put a square sticker on the fridge door near to the handle.
Put the other square sticker on an inside door or panel within the hallway.
If more than one member of the household suffers from an illness or allergy, please ensure that all forms are kept inside one container only.
These containers (Shown top left) are locally sponsored by The Selby and District Lions Club and are FREE OF CHARGE.
